Installing Memberwing WordPress Plugin, step by step
I decided to add premium content to my lifestream site, so wanted to get a license to use the Memberwing plugin we use on The Popular Podcast. For $295 I get a version that can be installed on unlimited domains, which I believe will come in handy. I’m going to walk you through the process of setting it up with WordPress so I can help myself remember how to do it next time.
First: Purchase.
Download and unzip, then FTP to your plugins directory in wp-content folder.
Try activating the plugin through your WordPress back end. Oh shit!

“memberwing.php requires the ionCube PHP Loader ioncube_loader_lin_5.2.so to be installed by the site administrator.”
Luckily, I had this same problem the other day on TPP. With Bluehost, you have to manually turn on ionCube in your cPanel. Check out this post for detailed instructions on how to do it.
So I’ve activated the plugin. Now I need to hook it up with Paypal. All these directions can be found here.
I go to create a new subscription button at Paypal:
I followed all the Memberwing instructions and made the button. Now I need a place to put the button. I added a text widget to my sidebar, where there is now a link for subscribers to log into wordpress and a link to a page where the button will live. That page still needs to be designed and is called the ‘squeeze page’. So I’ll hook that up now… I use a plugin called flexipages that lets me control the way my pages display in my sidebar, so I can suppress this squeeze page from my other list of pages.
Success!
Now I just need to suppress that page from my Lifestream Categories section and link up “Not a member?” in the sidebar.
My sidebar is complete for now. Eventually, I’ll make image buttons to be more attention-grabbing, or I might just style the CSS better. I don’t feel like messing with it at the moment…
So now I’m going to test the premium content marker in this post:
